UPDATE: Most of these signs are still posted throughout the Austin metro area. Always take photos of the tow signs posted at entrances and exits of the parking lot your vehicle is towed from, prior to going to the storage lot.
With area colleges gearing up for another school year, Austin area tow pirates are readying their attacks just as soon as colleges begin. This year brings promise as many tow companies continue to tow, charged boot and drop fees in violation of State Law because the tow signs is outdated.
Every vehicle towed, charged a drop or boot fee from a parking lot rather it be public or private from a parking lot bearing a tow sign that states “Towing Enforced at All Times” will collect $1000 plus triple what you paid.
For those requiring legal assistance for towing issues in the Austin area, contact 512-236-1114.
All of the above tow signs fail to meet the minimum requirements of State Law, specifically, Occupations Code 2308.301-302, because all the required text is not on the tow sign in the correct location, any towing would be in violation of State Law.
A “legal” tow sign or boot sign must look and say exactly as shown below and the tow sign can be posted no farther than 25′ from the roadway, be no lower than 5′ from ground facing you!
When you find your vehicle has been towed or booted, read this immediately to ensure your rights are protected.
